Boy, 14, drowned after jumping into the Thames from a bridge, inquest finds

A BOY aged 14 drowned after jumping into the Thames from a bridge while out swimming with pals, an inquest found.

Brian Sasu suffered a neck injury and died after diving in on July 18 last year, one of the hottest days of 2022.

His friends did not see him jump at the popular three-metre deep swimming spot at Tagg’s Island Bridge, South West London.

His body was found the next day.

Tests showed he had no alcohol or recreational drugs in his system.

Brian, of Feltham, West London, loved football and had dreamed of playing for Chelsea.

His family said: “Brian was a kind and loving boy who we will forever remember in our hearts.

Coroner Dr Anton van Dellen told West London coroner’s court that Brian would not have suffered.

He recorded an accidental death verdict.
