DAWN French has played many characters in her glittering career but her latest role has left fans in a state of shock after dramatically changing her appearance.
The 65-year-old comedian swapped her bob length brunette tresses for a purple hair do as she played Dame Trot in the iconic pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.

With purple hair, Dawn teamed her elaborate look with a sparkly dress for the end of the show’s Christmas run.
It’s not Dawn’s first time on the stage, as back in 2018, the star, who is one half of comedic duo French And Saunders, starred in Snow White.
And as The Sun reported at the time, the actress was set to earn a whopping £220,000 for her role at the London Palladium.
Aside from her purple hair do, Dawn garnered social media attention late last year when she appeared on The One show, showcasing silver hair.
She had previously joked on social media that she looked like Mr Whippy but fans were quick to praise the star.
One said: “Dawn French looks bl**dy fabulous.”
Another added: “Absolutely loving Dawn French’s hair on #theoneshow She is rocking the silver foxy look.”
But its not just the Vicar Of Dibley star’s career that is going from strength to strength, so too is her love life.
Since splitting with Lenny Henry in 2010 after more than two decades together, Dawn, who has a daughter with Lenny, met and married Mark Bignell in 2013.
Mark, who is a therapist for recovering addicts and set up a charity to help reintroducing addicts into society, set up home with Dawn in Cornwall in a £3 million home, which they share with their pet cat and dog.
Speaking about Mark’s job, Dawn recently said in an interview: “His work is quiet and understated – and it’s best it remains like that.”
