ANGRY parents are in fear for their children’s lives amid pick up and drop off chaos outside one school’s gates.
The parking system, or lack of, at Barley Fields Primary School in Ingleby Barwick, Stockton has sparked outrage among parents.
Many have claimed the new one way system, implemented after two children were nearly knocked down, has seen no improvements.
Dad Thomas Reeve, 35, a milkman, said: “It’s bedlam, absolute bedlam.
“I’ve had people try to intimidate me and be abusive over parking but takes a lot to intimidate me and I just brush it off.
“It’s not a nice atmosphere, especially for the kids.”

Grandmother Alison Boulton, 68, said: “It’s so congested, every morning is the same.
“It’s an absolute nightmare trying to find a space and people just park wherever they like.”
The concerned grandmother highlighted a field belonging to the nearby church that could be used for parking.
She also claimed school staff members have access to a sizable employee car park that parents are forbidden from using.

“They tell you to walk in, but its freezing cold and a lot of us have two drop offs at different schools. It’s not possible,” she continued.
Mum Louise Hughes, a construction administrator, added: “I think it’s
really dangerous, I fear for the kids’ safety.
“People are so focused with dropping the kids off as close to the gate as possible that they are parking on the roundabout, parking on the kerb, parking anywhere but the spaces.”
“The system isn’t working, the school drop offs are staggered between the two schools but that doesn’t help with congestion,” the 38-year-old added.
She described the “hectic” ordeal as “a nightmare” and reported frequent arguments between parents battling for a space.
Teachers have even been subject to abuse, according to Louise.
Parent Nicole Whigham said: “It’s an absolute farce, a complete nightmare.
“You can see today there’s two cars parked on the roundabout, so it completely ruins the system. The parents aren’t following it.”
The mobile hairdresser pointed out that the current situation is preventing access for ambulances to the nearby care home.
“It’s not just dangerous for the kids, it’s dangerous for the elderly people in the home, it’s affecting everyone,” the 39-year-old continued.
“I’ve had my wing mirrors hit and broken off. I’ve been shouted at and threatened by other parents,” she added.
Nicole claimed she had to wait 25 minutes to get a space one day last week.

Dad Jikku Nair, 38, an engineer, said: “It’s a miracle that no-one has been seriously injured, there have been two or three incidents now where it was close and thank God the kids weren’t harmed.”
