The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) declared the zone around Preston, South Ribble, Wyre and Fylde.

This came after the Avian Influenza virus was confirmed at a farm in Salwick on the fringe of Preston.

DEFRA said that all birds on the infected farm will be culled.

It is also implementing a temporary disease control zone that covers massive parts of the Wyre, Fylde, Preston and South Ribble areas.
